This is an ANCIENT game genre. Some detective actual games saved this type of gameplay (You use ur mouse to search in a room filled to the top with various items, I'm sure u know them).

This genre got to the PS1 in a great game named DRACULA, with rendered scenarios. Well I made my own, u can play it at Yoyo:

THE MANSION ON THE HILL

Here's how to do it in 6 easy steps:

-First think of a subject, main theme (U r a detective, a explorer in ancient temples, or a dude looking for fun)
-In a blank GMK file, add backgrounds (I used real pictures from different houses and buildings, this depends of ur subject)
-Assign a different room for every background, with a default snap of 16x16 (Grid) and resize ur BGs to 640x480
-create a square sprite of 32x32 with origin at the center
-create a persistent object (I always do this on ALL my games) named GOD, invisible and eternal xD in this object u will control the variables (EX: if u find a key, there will be a KEY variable, u must b used to the use of variables, ifs and elses)
-create objects with that sprite, for the player to click on them (LEFT CLICK PRESSED) and add messages and variables (EX: KEY)

And VOILA! u've got a S&A game! Very Happy For u to fully understand, play my game by clicking on the link above.

There's no limits. Use ur imagination.

Oh, arent those kinds of games also called point and click games? Also games like that are really cool. A really good example of this type of games are the "Escape the Room" Series by Afro Ninja. Its a flash game look it up. Also Mystery Mansion is a good game of this type. Ive never seen a game like that with real pics though. That's pretty cool Alengard. I rated 4.5/5.
