Preloading?

Exactly what does "Preloading" a sprite, texture, or sound do?

No **** I figured that much out. PRE(before) LOAD(load) Why? What does that do. Is it good or bad?

It makes it take longer to load a game.
But if you do preload them it doesn't have to load them when your game uses them
For example if you preload music it'll take longer to load the game
But if you don't preload it it'll load it when your game plays the music

Or something like that how the hell would I know...

good,it may take longer to load but the game will run faster i think

because every thing will be loaded so the game won't need to load it when it needs it because it will be already loaded
