Personally I think they should, there is lot of memorable pieces of game music out there and their "composers" aren't being given a lot of credit for them!

It is music, but not the most popular form of music.

I think that may change, for instance I think games are starting to feature different bands that will play music in the game, take crush 40 for example.
Now that I think about I think bowling for soup did music for a sonic game once.

Why is this under metal and rock music topics?
Game music isn't metal or rock at all

Did they record the music specifically for the sonic game or was it recorded before the game was made and Saga got permission to include it?

I think they composed the music specifically for the games, otherwise I'd find it hard to believe that pieces of music such as "All Hail Shadow", was creasted just for the sake of it.
