"Zero Gravity" collisions
I posted this on another forum (to no avail) so I thought I might get better luck here on GameML (sorry I've neglected this forum so much!). There's some new announcements regarding GBS games, which you can find here
Here's the original topic:
I'm building a sidescrolling game that is a lot like a regular platformer, except there's no gravity. Instead the player has a jet pack that keeps them suspended in the air. I have very little experience with collisions in general, but all the tutorials and examples I've seen involve gravity, so I haven't been able to learn much that would apply to my game I've set up a mock-up of how the game is coded, I managed to work out flat vertical and horizontal surfaces, but ramps, curved surfaces, and stand-alone blocks elude me (which is all set up in the mock up). The main problem is that the character just stick s to everything, how can I get the collisions to be nice and smooth? Can anyone point me in the direction of an example I could work from, or maybe try out coding some of this stuff?
Here's a screenshot of the game I'm working on, titled: Endgame.
Here's the mock-up file, which is just a simplified version of the movement system in Endgame. If you're able to get the ramps and other surfaces to work... you're awesome.
Mockup download
And here's what I have so far for Endgame, if you're interested
endgame file download
Thanks to all who reply!
