multi-game save info

This is kind of a weird problem. I'm doing some of the technical research for our upcoming 3-part adventure, Bio-Drone. What I'd like to be able to do is have player info (name, money, ammo, etc) information pass from one game to another by having the player load (presumably) some type of save file in-game. So, if they finish part 1 with 10 lives and 15 dollars (or whatever) after loading their save info/profile those stats will be transfered to part 2. Is such a thing even possible?

Yes, it definitly is possible. I do not no exactly how, but it is possible to save those variables as a text file, which makes it easy to cheat but still does the job.

Also if you play the game "Super Smash Rumble" you will notice that the save file is compatible with multiple updates. I have no idea how the hell he does that though

It's pretty easy to do this actually. If that example doesn't help, I could show you. You could even encrypt the info with one of the amazing scripts from gmlscripts.com.
